Having cleared the area where the new driveway in Hartford was going to be laid, we spread a layer of builders’ sand which provides a good, level base. We laid the charcoal blocks in a double border around the edge of what was to be the block paving driveway in Hartford. The final part of the process was to brush kiln dried sand into the joints and the push down the paving stones to secure into place using a Wacker.
