New Block Paving Driveway in Hartford
Classic Block Paving Driveway in Hartford Creates a Timeless Appearance using Modern Materials
Many homeowners love the look of traditional cobbles, although laying original reclaimed cobbled stones can be time consuming and difficult. While they may conjure up the look of times gone past, they are not as robust and don’t have the same resilience that more modern materials have, so you may not find them as hardwearing or long lasting.
Instead of using reclaimed cobbles why not have a block paving driveway in Hartford. With advancements in the way materials are manufactured, you can have a cobbled appearance that comes with the strength and durability of brand-new blocks. The tumbled effect of the blocks creates an aged look, similar to weathered stone, even though they are brand new blocks. When laid they give a timeless style and elegance.
Planet Surfacing recently laid a beautiful new driveway in Hartford. Our clients loved the look of the Tobermore Tegula Blocks and so decided to have a block paving driveway in Hartford using these blocks in a slate colour.
Having cleared the area where the new driveway in Hartford was going to be laid, we spread a layer of builders’ sand which provides a good, level base. We laid the charcoal blocks in a double border around the edge of what was to be the block paving driveway in Hartford. One was laid with bricks placed lengthways and the other with bricks placed width ways. You can see what this looks like from some of the photographs included. This feature nicely highlighted the shape of the driveway, created additional interest, and defined the edges.
Once this was done, we then laid the paving blocks. These blocks are different sizes and shades of grey which creates a more natural look to the new driveway in Hartford. The charcoal colour in the border was the perfect complement to the different shades of grey used for the main section of the block paving.
In addition, we also included three recessed manholes in the block paving driveway in Hartford and an ACO drain along one edge to make the driveway SUDs compliant. The final part of the process was to brush kiln dried sand into the joints and the push down the paving stones to secure into place using a Wacker.
