New patio & staircase in Macclesfield

Summer 2018 will be remembered as being one of the hottest on record in England. It was a time to enjoy hot days and warm balmy evenings and we probably all spent more time in the garden and barbecuing than we have ever done. That said, the more time spent in the garden, the more obvious it becomes that there may be a need for updating the area or better utilisation of the space.

That’s exactly what our clients decided when they considered a new patio in Macclesfield. While the area at the back of the house provided a great outdoor living space with a nice lawn, it lacked interest and definition. For our clients, pattern imprinted concrete proved to be the perfect solution.

Our clients opted for a patio that was printed in Ashlar and coloured in Whitby buff. A gorgeous staircase and patio area were installed using this print and colour. To create definition and added interest acid stain was added to the borders. The patio provided direct access to the garden from stepping out through the patio doors or the back door and the large graduated steps led to the top of the garden where there was an additional seating area and shed. On this project a step was created at the back door. At Planet Surfacing we can add additional features such as steps, borders and fencing.

While this was quite a technically challenging job, at Planet Surfacing we have the skills and expertise to carry out this kind of project in a professional manner and to complete it to a high standard. When we agreed to do the job, the lady of the house said that a few contractors had agreed to start but never showed up because of the amount of work involved as well as the technical aspects to it. She had no such problem with Planet Surfacing. That’s because as specialists we can draw on our years of experience installing pattern imprinted concrete patios and driveways.

In addition to the practicalities of building the staircase there was also the temperature to deal with. During the time of installation last summer, it was very hot and as the work was quite involved and time consuming, we decided to use an integral colour rather than use a concrete where the colour had to be added. This saved us a lot of time and meant that we could work on the finish.
