We started the process by digging out the existing road and disposed of all the old materials. We put down a hardcore based and then topped this with a layer of tarmac. As you can see from the photographs included the road was on a slope with three different driveways off it, so we had to carefully lay the tarmac up to the edge of these driveways. We were also able to incorporate the existing borders which included many established shrubs and trees.

We installed an ACO drain at the bottom of the road so that the water could run down the slope and into it. You can see this in one of the photographs. We achieved a lovely smooth finish. This new tarmac driveway in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, will require minimal maintenance.
